Local Car News #Update
The General Aviation Terminal (GAT) at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos has been restructured, giving it an automated facelift. For every car user who wishes park at the aviation terminal, there is an automated traffic warden to help coordinate parkings.
This as a result of FAAN’s self service and their determination to eliminate the traffic that has plagued the Murtala Mohammed Airport in recent times.
Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, Corporate Communications, General Manager, FAAN in an interview at the agency’s headquarters yesterday in Lagos, asserted that within one month of the automation exercise, FAAN had recorded 68 per cent revenue increase.
“the automation exercise had blocked some of the loopholes in the system, with the automation of the car park, rowdiness and massive traffic associated with the manual collection at the park has disappeared and we are grateful for this positive outcome” Yakubu said
FAAN commenced the automation of the G.A.T car park on the 8th of January, 2018. The process, which seemed impossible at the initial stage eliminated the manual collection of toll that had been in existence for about two decades.
“FAAN decided to overhaul the whole system and see how we could make it orderly because we were getting a lot of complaints from our passengers and airport users that they were not getting a space to park their vehicles” she added.
