A joint venture between the Largest Manufacturing Conglomerate in West Africa, Dangote Group Nigeria and  Andrade Gutierrez (AG) of Brazil called the AG-Dangote Construction Company has said the firm will deliver the 42.5km Obajana-Kabba Road in Kogi State by December 2018 as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the group.

The Managing Director of AG-Dangote Construction Company, Mr. Ashif Juma, who stated this in a statement obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja on Monday, said that the longest concrete road project in Nigeria was being built according to specifications.

According to him, 33 kilometers earthwork and 22 kilometres concrete pavement have already been accomplished.

“We will deliver the project by December this year as planned,” Mr Juma said.

He urged the Federal government and State Government at all levels to switch from asphalt to concrete roads which is far superior, durable and cheaper than the former.

“Concrete roads do not require frequent maintenance compared to asphalt, It saves fuel for motorists and protects tyres from wear and tear” he added.

However, businessmen, human right activists as well as Road users have commended the President of the Dangote Group; Aliko Dangote and have described the project as a big relief, urging other companies to emulate the patriotic act as it had already started easing travelling and connectivity in the region.
