DOCUMENTS EVERY CAR OWNER MUST HAVE

#Cars45 Motivation Monday

Driving is one outstanding skill that everyone find interesting. Either you are a car owner or not, the idea of being behind the steering wheel, controlling the big 4wheel is one positive responsibility. Yet a number of people who are majorly car owners take the car document validation process with levity. Though it has been announced as unconstitutional for the  Nigerian Police to ask for vehicle particulars, it still doesn’t change the fact that they derive a sense of pride in doing so.

While almost every car owner in Nigeria acknowledge the fact that they have faced one kind of harassment or another from the Nigerian police, trust me, you don’t want to be stopped by the Federal Road Safety personnel. This and so many other reasons beneficial to all car owners have prompted the need for this post, we will be listing a number of documents mandatory for all car owners as failure to do so might result in vehicle impound or penalty.

  1. DRIVERS LICENSE

You have this, then you can drive ANY car, you don’t? Then you need to make sure you get it by all means. It is the first and most important document required by the Nigerian law for every car owner/driver who wish to be on the road.

In order to get the drivers license, all prospective drivers must go through a scrutinized training that requires mental and physical stability, thanks to the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Vehicle Inspection Service who have made this a priority for all drivers.

  1. VEHICLE REGISTRATION

The vehicle registration document is as valid and important as the papers of a newly purchased land. This is a document that clearly indicates that a car has been duly registered under the Nigerian law and as such, complies with the various regulations guiding this act.

  1. INSURANCE CERTIFICATE

As the saying goes “Insurance covers all,” lives are insured, even houses. It is important to note that vehicle insurance certificate is one paramount document. It provides financial protection against physical damage and/or bodily injury resulting from traffic collisions and against liability that could also arise as a result.

The insurance certificate is insurance for cars, trucks, motorcycles, and other road moving vehicles.

We will take a halt here for now, though the number of listed documents above cannot validate a driver when caught, we will continue on the list next week.
