EDO STATE GOVERNOR’S CONVOY IN ROAD ACCIDENT

Yesterday, a convoy of the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki was involved in an accident along the Benin-Lagos Express Road. The accident which occurred as a result of brake failure happened in front of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). Thankfully, no life was lost save for three persons who sustained injuries.

Newsmen gathered that some private vehicles alongside the governor’s press crew bus marked (EDGH 278) were badly damaged and had to be towed away when they visited the scene.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie confirmed the incident.

“A number of people in the bus and three other vehicles were involved in the accident. A  medical doctor as well as a mother and her child sustained varied degrees of injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).”

“An official of the state government has been sent to the hospital to ascertain the degree of injuries sustained by the victims and we are also in touch with the doctors managing the victims.

“We have undertaken to pay the medical bills of all the victims. Thank God no life was lost.”
