The Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Engr. Wolfgang Goetsch on sunday informed stakeholders that the Federal Government had made some payment to the company for the re-construction of the critical road on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway where work is expected to resume immediately.
The construction firm had been going back and forth on the road for some months now on account of the inability of the government to sustain payment. The 127 kilometer reconstruction project on the Lagos-Ibadan highway dual carriageway is said to have reached 58.27 percent completion and created over 4,500 direct and indirect jobs.
While Julius Berger handles the section one of the road(Lagos to Shagamu), spanning a total of 43km with a contract sum of over N134 billion, Reynoid Construction Company (RCC) handles the second section (Shagamu to Ibadan) which spans a total of 84km.
The construction giant also informed that it has been awarded the resurfacing of the Abuja to Kano 376 kilometers expressway. The road is said to serve between 80 to 100 million people.
Goetsch said JBN will be introducing brand new technology and innovation in the reconstruction of the road as it is set to recycle the current asphalt and reuse as base.
