LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT TO CLOSE ROADS TEMPORARILY FOR BUHARI’S TWO-DAY VISIT

The Lagos State Government has announced that some roads would be shut temporarily as a result of President Muhammadu Buhari’s two day visit to Lagos.

The President, who would be in Lagos on Thursday and Friday will be commissioning the newly built Ikeja Bus terminal, he will also be attending the colloquium to mark Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s birthday as well as the flag off for the construction of the Lekki Deep Sea port.

As a result of this, the state government has announced Thursday as work free day in the state in order to ensure that the president’s visit is smooth and hitch free. Traffic officials will also be around to handle traffic appropriately and curb inconveniences.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, briefing the media, said the roads to be closed are specific and sensitive areas in the state, the roads to be closed in Ikeja are Bank-Anthony and Agege Motor Road, while Ahmadu Bello road will be closed in Victoria Island.

He said the Union of Motorcycle Operators and Commercial Bus Drivers, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) have been engaged to ensure their members are law abiding and at their best behaviour, warning that every act of hooliganism will not be tolerated.
