TRAGEDY ON LAGOS-IBADAN ROAD

It was a festival of tears and wails yesterday when a DAF Container truck and a motorcycle had a collision on the Kara bridge of the Lagos Ibadan Expressway, killing Four People including a 3 year old baby boy.

The accident occurred few hours into the dawning of the day, around 8:30 am.

Eye witnesses reported that the truck which was on high speed lost control of his wheel resulting from a tyre burst, in the process of trying not to hit another car or wreak havoc on the expressway, he resorted to swerving into the river but in the process, hit a motorcycle rider who had a baby strapped to her back.

The woman was said to have survived the accident, but the baby lost his life due to the shock and impact of the accident. Three other crew members in the truck also lost their life in the crash.

The incident resulted in heavy traffic jam on both sides of the road, as LASEMA and other rescue team, including Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, cordoned off the entire road to pave way for easy recovery effort of victims and the vehicle.

The bodies of the victims were deposited at the mortuary, thanks to the local divers and the Emergency Response Team (ERT), while the survivors: The okada rider and woman were rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment.
