…Going back in time!
Ever seen a ‘1973 Datsun 240z‘ car or a ‘1955 Studebaker commander’ drive past you and you just stand there, stunned and lost in thought. Then the thoughts now begin to roll in: how old is this car? How come its so beautiful after so many years? Who on earth would have thought of buying such a car? What are these cars still doing in this century?
A vintage car is, in the most general sense, an old automobile. And in the narrower senses of car enthusiasts and collectors, it is a car from the period of 1919 to 1930. These cars were champions in their respective categories as at when built, owning those cars back then means you are either well to do or from a wealthy home and your share of the family will is as enormous and the sands of the sea shore.
Sadly, Nigerians have a little passion for vintage cars, the people seem not to appreciate vehicles older than a decade. The rave is for newer cars, much appreciation is poured onto the yearly release of cars, no matter the brand name.
But recently, much has changed. The people are now interested in the retrospectical cars. Politicians now drive the cars, series of auto rentals have made a custom fleet of it, celebrities have begun to grace occasions with quite a number of it.
Should we rather say the world is going back in retrospect with automobiles now? Take a pause and see for yourself. Vintage cars now rule! Step out in grand style as you might consider getting one for yourself this valentine….
