Local Car Gist #Update
While we were getting out hearts heavy from the fire outbreak, loss of lives and properties that struck the residents of Magodo yesterday, there was another accident along the badly deteriorated Minna-Bida road in the northern part of the country.
The accident occurred when a Toyota Hiace Bus trying to dodge a pothole rammed into a fully loaded petrol Tanker, leaving 17 people dead and four people injured. Eyewitnesses and commuters who ply the road however reported that three of such had occurred in the last three months.
In a statement made by the FRSC Sector Commander: Mr. Yusuf Garba, he blamed the accident on wrong timing.
“The injured were taken to the Bida General Hospital for treatment while the relatives of the victims who died were buried according to Islamic injunction” he said.
Mr. Garba however, appealed to road users to avoid reckless driving and overtaking, as this has claimed quite a number of lives and have left many cars and buses destroyed on the highways.
Some of the sympathisers blamed the frequent accident and the casualty therein to the bad nature of the road and the dusts that are being raised mostly by reckless drivers. This dust makes it difficult for motorists along the road to see their vision easily.
