An accident along Ondo Road has claimed the life of not more than 6 people including a grandmother who was identified as Mrs. Orukotan and her two grandchildren, leaving 5 people severely injured.

The accident which happened in the early hours of Sunday, 28 January. 2018 occurred when a truck developed brake failure and rammed into the Ibaka Market, in Akungba Akoko, Ondo state, killing the helpless grandmother, her kids and other commuters who had come to patronize food stuff sellers in the market.

The bodies of the dead have been taken to the Morgue with the injured taken to the hospital for treatment.

 

Still in the news…

Another accident also occurred on Benin-Lagos Expressway, leaving two people dead. The accident which was a head to head collision involved a Mercedes Benz SUV and a blue Toyota Carina.

An eyewitness who identified himself as Muritala Rauf was of the fact that the accident occurred as a result of reckless driving and overtaking which led to a head-on collision.

Sector Commander of FRSC in the state, Vincent Jack, said seven people were involved in the accident; six died, while one was injured.

The bodies have been deposited at the morgue of the State Specialists Hospital in Ikare-Akoko, while the injured were also taken to the same hospital for treatment” He said.
