The Anambra State police command have arrested a group of car Hijackers operating in various parts of the state, 11 exotic cars of various brands have also been recovered from them alongside 11 other suspects.
The model of the cars recovered are; Lexus SUV, Mercedes Benz SUV, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry, among others.
The Anambra commissioner of police, Mr. Garba Umar, who paraded the suspects and the cars at the state police command in Awka on Wednesday, said the command had to reinforce rational tactics and scrutinize efforts in protecting the lives and property of its state citizens following the incessant car robbery incidents in the area.
The CP expounded the ordeals of the affected victims, “they all had the same stories in common” he said. The hijackers operated with 4 motorcycles, and their target were based on car owners who had unconsciously stepped out of their cars; either to buy something or to patronize a local customer.
Following the arrests, the Anambra state police command have been able to arrest other suspects connected to the theft as quite a number of cars have been traced to Delta, Abuja and Ondo state.
“We are doing all we can to get our hands on other suspected members on the run, the wife of the principal suspect who we believe is still at large is also our top priority and we believe the law with catch up on them soon enough,” he said.
