RRS OPERATIVES NAB EX-INMATES FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER OF UBER DRIVER

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) paraded two suspects who confessed to specializing in Carjacking. The suspects, Simon Tyozemda and Lucky Friday, were discovered to have just been released from prison custody where they allegedly met and formed a robbery gang.

The suspects were believed to have engaged an uber driver through Simon’s girlfriend’s phone to convey them to Victoria Island from Ajah. However, midway into the journey, Tyozemda revealed that he stabbed the unsuspecting driver along Badore Road, Ajah, dumped his body and zoomed off in the dying driver’s car.

However, luck ran against them after the Rapid Response team apprehended them during a second robbery attempt, the robbers had reportedly ordered another Uber driver’s car along Lekki-Epe Expressway around 1:30am with the aim of snatching his vehicle before they were intercepted by the command RRS patrol team posted to the route.

Two knives and Indian hemp were reportedly found under the carpet of the car after a search, leading to their arrest.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, who paraded the suspects on Tuesday at the command headquarters in Ikeja, said

“The robbers met at the kiri-kiri prison where they became friends. Upon their release in January, they took up robbery. They killed an uber driver named Ovie in one of their operations and sold off his car for N350,000 to one Mohammed Usman and John ThankGod.”

“They were about to take the car to Jigawa state before they were apprehended. Investigation into the case revealed that the suspects’ intention were to divert the Uber driver to a convenient place and snatch his car from him; a 2010 Toyota Camry before they were stopped by the Rapid Response Team.”
