For over 5 years and counting, the Ikeja road has been plagued by incessant gridlocks of yhe cars plying it. Series of cars have been seen on the road, parked or worn out from hot temperature. The aftermath has been frustration, fights and even death with armed men like: Mobile Police, Soldiers, LASTMA and FRSC Officials exercising their powers, trying to settle disputes, fights, curses and in the process curb the fender to bumper traffic.
Victims of this decrepit traffic are mostly the drivers who drive through Mobolaji Bank Anthony way, the Opebi Link road users and the Ikeja Along road users.
Few hours ago, a stand still traffic surfaced on the Mobolaji Bank Anthony way, throwing drivers into panic, shock and desperation. Commercial bus users have decided to turn the tides in their favour, hence increasing bus fares and staying adamant to their hike decision.
A commercial driver Identified as Moruf Omoyele blamed the grid lock on the recklessness and selfishness of Private car drivers who have refused to allow other vehicle users access when they need to turn on the Ikeja Roundabout. The selfishness however has aggravated into anger resulting in collision.
“Na dis rich rich people wey no dey calm down, dem dey always drive like say na dem get road, ordinary road rules sef, dem no sabi. If dem don dey drive, na like say the world dey their hand”
So far, LASTMA Officials have taken up the responsibility of calming the rising traffic grid that has spread to the outskirts of Ikeja. I.e Ogba, Adeniyi Jones and Agidingbi by being deployed into the area.
