LAGOS INCESSANT TRAFFIC: ROBBERS SEIZE OPPORTUNITY FOR THEFT PRACTICES

Local Car News #Update

Lagos state! The home to quite a number of people from different walks of life has continued to grow and as a result has not stopped accommodating different personalities from different parts of the world.

Located in the south west geographical zone of the country, Lagos State is arguably the most economically important state of the country. This is no doubt why there has been a large turn out of cars on the asphalt as a result. Hence traffic has continued to grow and quite a number of car owners have resorted to leaving their cars at home to board commercial transits.

Yet at the expense of ignoring traffic and the frustration that ensues, some personalities have brought to life the idea of theft and unscrupulous practices. From January till date, there has been quite a number of reports and complains following robberies in traffic bound areas. while some rob commercial vehicles, some rob private vehicles; pointing gun at drivers and extorting them with other drivers not knowing.

From Mobolaji Bank Anthony way down to Ikorodu Road, Third Mainland Bridge, Berger Road and Apapa Road, heinous acts have taken place either in the early hours of the day or in the dusk, when residents are retiring to their homes after a long day.

Fausat Amoo, 43, a trader at the Oyingbo Market recounted her ordeal when she faced the hoodlums on her way home (Ipodo, Ikeja).

“Dey be five wey enter the bus,na bus wey no get conductor dem dey always target so dem go fit overpower the driver. Dem collect everybody wallet and phones, the other guy wey dey door side carry gun, him talk say he go shoot anybody wey shout. When dem reach country club side, na him dem drop. We just dey inside bus dey look like say we see ghost. My money, my money oooo.” she said  in tears.

There have been similar occurrences in other traffic bound areas. We do hope the Federal Government and State Government interfere in this matter soon so as to bring this issue to a halt.
